This role also supports accreditation initiatives and necessitates an understanding of contemporary best practices in higher education and healthcare facilities. A significant level of initiative and independent decision-making is essential. The Lead Planner position plays a crucial role in the daily operations, strategic planning, and financial aspects of Property and Facilities Management.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

In partnership with the Director:

Formulates a Comprehensive Master Plan for physical facilities over extended timeframes (10 years, 6 years, 2 years), pinpointing key land uses, building locations, space distributions, utility placements, flood management, transportation, parking, recreational areas, and community effects;

Creates project programs that outline requirements and expected outcomes for new construction and renovation initiatives.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Drafts project specifications, limitations, alternatives, opportunity assessments, and relevant analyses.
Facilitates preparation for and involvement in client and stakeholder informational sessions, site data collection, stakeholder discussions, design workshops, and ongoing evaluations.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATION
Synchronizes facility installations and relocations with various sections and departments within the institution.
TECHNICAL
Conducts advanced drafting and graphic design; generates maps and conceptual illustrations.
Designs and produces brochures, marketing materials, and construction project plans.
Creates presentations for institutional leadership and external stakeholders regarding construction initiatives.

The Office of Property and Facilities Management, under the guidance of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, oversees the planning and administration of all property and facility operations and maintenance for LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans. This office manages the planning of space and property, capital budgeting, construction oversight, and building management, which includes renovations, maintenance, and repair of institutional buildings and facilities; as well as the provision of utilities, grounds maintenance, custodial services, waste collection, recycling, and additional services.
