Position Summary:
The Purchasing/Estimator Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing all tasks related to the creation and maintenance of material take-offs. This position requires collaboration with the VP of Construction to devise and execute strategies aimed at refining the estimating and purchasing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the company engages the most qualified contractors for each project.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the industry for the major categories being sourced.
- Estimate materials for new designs.
- Take ownership of enhancing the division's cost efficiency for specified spending categories, facilitating value engineering with suppliers, trades, and clients.
- Create and uphold precise material take-offs.
- Monitor material usage on-site to identify overages or shortages, adjusting material take-offs accordingly. Analyze take-off data using Microsoft Excel.
- Assist the Division team with plan value engineering.
- Ensure compliance with the Division's insurance requirements and address any purchase order discrepancies.
- Complete necessary documentation for the Regional Operations Center (ROC).
- Maintain vendor files and contractual agreements.
- Prepare bid requests for new and existing plans and assist in evaluating bid proposals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing and estimating is required.
- Ability to read and interpret residential blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, JD Edwards, and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of construction practices on a national scale.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, energetic, and dedicated work ethic.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Valid Auto Insurance Coverage.
- Task-oriented with the ability to meet specific deadlines.
- Strong project management skills, capable of overseeing several projects simultaneously.
