Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure that all food safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Develop and implement kitchen operations procedures to ensure efficient and effective meal service.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and supplies to ensure that all necessary items are available.
  • Collaborate with the food service team to develop and implement menu plans that meet the nutritional needs of students.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment and facilities are maintained in good working order.
  • Monitor and control kitchen expenses to ensure that they are within budget.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and increase meal participation.
  • Stay up-to-date with all relevant food safety and sanitation regulations and ensure that the kitchen is in compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as food science or hospitality management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a kitchen management role, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and train staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, as well as relevant regulations and laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a public sector setting, such as a school district.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including students and staff from different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles and practices.
Working Conditions

The Kitchen Operations Manager will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and other hazards. The ability to lift and carry heavy objects, as well as stand for long periods of time, is required.
