Overview: The clinical assignments for interns at YCS will encompass working with infants (dyadic), preschoolers, school-aged children, and their families. Bilingual interns will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of clients, including adolescents and families at the Dr. Helen May Strauss Clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
Interns will play a vital role in supporting the objectives of the YCS Institute by delivering psychotherapeutic services under supervision, adhering to the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Conduct individual, dyadic (infant-parent), family, and group therapy sessions, along with related mental health services.
- Provide compassionate service to clients and their families.
- Collaborate with clients and/or families to create realistic and achievable treatment plans, in consultation with supervisors.
- Dedicate 50-60% of time to direct client interactions.
- Manage overall case responsibilities for assigned clients, including coordination with educational institutions and community organizations.
- Work effectively with fellow trainees, staff, referral sources, and social support networks to ensure comprehensive care.
- Uphold patients' rights to fair treatment, self-determination, privacy, and civil rights.
- Deliver psychotherapy grounded in sound clinical judgment and empathy.
- Involve patients and/or family members in the treatment planning process as clinically appropriate.
- Perform case management tasks to ensure seamless coordination of treatment services, including advocacy and community liaison efforts.
- Collaborate with other trainees and staff as needed for optimal client care.
- Administer diagnostic evaluations or specialized psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disabilities, as assigned.
- Submit billing for services rendered within 24 hours, ensuring all documentation is signed by the client.
- Ensure confidentiality of records in compliance with YCS Institute and JCAHO standards.
