Clinical Nurse Specialist

Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers comprehensive nursing services to patients within an acute care setting.
Responsible for providing coordinated, safe, compassionate, and evidence-based quality care tailored to the individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families throughout their lifespan.
Practices in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act applicable in the state of employment, adhering to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, as well as the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Specific skills and essential functions required for the role can be found in the unit-specific onboarding checklist and relevant specialty standards.
Qualifications, Licensure & Certification:
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previously agreed-upon timelines for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing will remain valid, including those transitioning from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
- Any contractual obligations regarding specific timelines for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing will take precedence.
- Specialty Certification is desirable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is dependent on the unit.
Experience:
The Registered Nurse must hold a current RN license in the state of employment with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Alternatively, the Registered Nurse may possess less than one year of experience if they have transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
The Registered Nurse must comply with the educational requirements set forth by the nursing unit during their employment. Maintenance of BLS certification is mandatory, while ACLS certification is unit-specific.Core Responsibilities:

Utilizes Nursing Professional Practice:
Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care.
Develops, updates, and coordinates the patient care plan to achieve desired outcomes and optimize transitions across the care continuum.
Monitors, documents, and communicates patient conditions as necessary. Maintains essential competencies as required by the specific area of hire and patient population served. 2.Patient Advocacy:
Effectively advocates for ethical and holistic care by engaging in care planning that promotes the autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those served.
3. Facilitates Education:
Creates a learning environment for patients/families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members, including students; Facilitates both formal and informal learning opportunities for patients/families, nursing staff, and the community.
4.Ensures Safety and Quality:
Accountable for patient safety, identifies and rectifies issues, and integrates evidence-based practices into nursing care; utilizes data to enhance patient outcomes.
Prioritizes patient safety, self-safety, and environmental safety equally for optimal results. 5.Engages in Continuous Professional Development:
Actively participates in ongoing professional growth; practices within the legal parameters of the Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards.
Fosters a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence-based practices. 6.Leadership in Practice and Community:
Demonstrates leadership as a change agent, employing collaborative skills of advocacy, influence, and innovation.
In collaboration with colleagues, appropriately delegates, coordinates care, and works alongside others as integral members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
Models professional behaviors representative of the nursing profession. 7. Participates in the development and delivery of educational programs. 8.This description is not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned as necessary in the execution of the role.
Additional Responsibilities:

Proficient in Information Technology, including electronic health records, communication systems, and necessary equipment to perform essential job functions.
2.Skilled in collaborating with a diverse range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary personnel.
3. Ability to exercise independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery. 4. Demonstrated interpersonal skills that reflect a positive and supportive demeanor. 5.
