Transformational Research Leader for Biologics Development

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our biologics development team at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the discovery and optimization of therapeutic biologics using in vitro based methodologies.
As a scientific leader, you will set high standards for execution and rigor, drawing on expertise from antibody-based discovery platforms to provide innovative guidance on strategies towards candidate profiles for differing target types. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing efficient workflows to progress viable therapeutic molecules from discovery to IND.
In addition to your scientific expertise, you will possess strong leadership skills and be able to empower and mentor a small team of scientists to achieve their full potential. Your ability to work effectively within a matrix team and foster collaboration with internal and external groups will be essential in driving the progression of molecules.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in a scientific discipline, 7+ years of experience in industry, and 5 years of managerial experience. They will be up-to-date with the latest scientific advancements and be able to contribute to the preparation of patents, documentation for IND, and publications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scientific Leadership: Set high standards for effectiveness of execution, and rigor of thought. Possessing in-depth knowledge of antibody-based discovery, optimization/ engineering using yeast/phage in vitro based discovery methods.
- People Leadership: Organizational leader who has accountability for the performance and results of a small team. Empowerment, but strong mentoring of that team in their mission to generate therapeutic biologics.
- Program Involvement: Ambassador for the biologics department, scientifically inputting to project teams, helping set standards for excellent and focused triage of molecules.

- U.S. base salary range: $149,100 - $234,300
