Job Summary

At Frederick Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Lead to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of patient services. Your primary responsibility will be to provide general oversight to the daily work flow for an assigned group of Patient Access Registrars, prioritizing the workload and referring problems to the supervisor. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing input into evaluations and giving routine reports as required. As a working lead, you will perform the same duties as the team and be responsible for obtaining accurate, pertinent demographic and insurance information prior to services, thus reducing financial risk of third party denials and delayed collection processes for services both at on and off site facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a track record of producing consistently accurate work that demonstrates attention to detail and reflects well on the organization.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately, using good judgment as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished.
  • Utilize information received from oral, written and electronic sources to make effective and appropriate decisions.
  • Develop the schedules and plans according to departmental and system policies, allocating required resources and ensuring that plans fit with the larger needs of the organization.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance eligibility and authorizations are present prior to or at the time of service.
  • Responsible for the POS collection of patient owed cost sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and full cost (non-covered, self-pay) prior to or at the time of service.
  • Provide assistance/mentoring to newer employees' on more problematic accounts to assist with growth and understanding.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Two years of hospital experience in the areas of registration and / or patient accounts or experience in a physician's office practice required.
