Position Overview

Instructional Role in the Chemistry Department


The Chemistry Department within the College of Science at Purdue University is seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join our academic team.

This full-time academic appointment is non-tenure track and offers a renewable contract, allowing for a stable teaching environment.

The primary responsibilities of this role will involve delivering lectures for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses. Future opportunities may include overseeing laboratory sessions related to these subjects.

The Chemistry Department engages in a wide array of teaching and research initiatives, covering essential topics across various chemistry disciplines, including analytical, biochemistry, physical, organic, inorganic, materials chemistry, and chemical education.

Each year, the department serves over 10,000 undergraduate students, with expectations to instruct approximately 500 students in the Indianapolis area.

Candidate Qualifications


Applicants must possess at least a master's degree, with a preference for candidates holding a doctoral degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence.

The Department and University prioritize and support best instructional practices, including active learning methodologies and the integration of educational technology.

We are looking for candidates with a proven track record in innovative teaching and a commitment to ongoing enhancement of course delivery. Occasional travel may be necessary between locations.
