Lung Transplant Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lung Transplant Specialist to join our team at UT Health San Antonio. As a Lung Transplant Specialist, you will be responsible for providing general medical patient care in our pulmonary lung transplant program. This is a full-time position that requires excellent clinical, decision-making, organizational, and motivational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments of pre and post-transplant patients
  • Ensure the implementation of program guidelines and protocols
  • Monitor patient results in different care settings and between visits
  • Rotate in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings
  • Interact with consulting services, care and discharge planning, and monitor disposition of discharged patients
  • Participate in selection committee and multidisciplinary rounds

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team and academic environment
  • Monday-Friday schedule with occasional phone calls on evenings or nights from the referring community
  • New graduates welcome to apply
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the State Medical Board within the first 6 months of hiring
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
