Job Summary/Basic Function
The Research Associate is tasked with the establishment, upkeep, and management of the prospect research initiative within the Development Office of University Advancement. This role is pivotal in enhancing the effectiveness of fundraising efforts by providing detailed insights into potential donors and existing supporters.

Required Qualifications
- Three years of advanced clerical or para-professional experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Proven experience with database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to:

- Experience in composing and editing detailed reports.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two to three years of experience in philanthropy within higher education or a non-profit context.
- Two to three years of experience in prospect research or management.
- Two to three years of familiarity with database systems and software packages.
- Two to three years of experience with electronic database searches.
Job Description
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and management of the prospect research program.
- Create and maintain prospect records, tracking moves management and proposals.
- Conduct proactive research and develop profiles on potential and existing donors.
- Generate and distribute reports detailing donor interactions and proposal statuses.
- Review and disseminate information from reports submitted by development officers.
- Collect and verify key constituent information using various sources.
- Develop and refine policies and procedures related to prospect research.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of corporate and foundation records in the database.
- Collaborate with University Advancement staff to manage specialized groups of organizations.
- Assist in training student workers and graduate assistants in database maintenance.
- Participate in relevant meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Support the Advancement Information Services team in data management tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Minimal physical effort required.
- Limited exposure to physical risks.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills necessary.
- Basic math skills required.
- Work primarily conducted at a desk using a computer and phone.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 10 pounds.
