Role Summary

WSP is embarking on a search for a Full-time Senior Environmental Geologist to join our team. Engage in projects with our Earth & Environment division and contribute to a dynamic organization dedicated to fulfilling client needs and overcoming challenges. In this capacity, you will offer technical support and direction for multi-site environmental operations, due diligence assessments, subsurface investigations, and remediation initiatives. You will also substantiate reports and documentation to inform on field conditions, movements, and overall risks to ecological and human health.

Your Contributions
  • Establish precise data collection methodologies for extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from various sources including soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Oversee and assist with environmental site evaluations (Phase I and II).
  • Investigate historical property land uses through environmental hazmat databases.
  • Coordinate site investigations, subsurface boring projects, remediation activities, and groundwater well installations.
  • Manage drilling subcontractors and WSP personnel during sample collection and well installations.
  • Analyze data and visual representations such as mineral charts and groundwater models.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards for accurate measurements and reporting.
  • Assist in the development and planning of moderate to complex projects.
  • Review project documentation from WSP staff and subcontractors for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and evaluate technical reports and presentations detailing research findings and recommendations for environmental remediation.
  • Supervise the analysis and interpretation of geological and chemical data from field investigations, contributing to action plans for threat mitigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project tasks effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and site-specific procedures among subcontractors and WSP staff.
  • Develop and implement Project Safety Plans (PSPs).
  • Adhere to company and regulatory standards regarding data integrity and documentation.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a closely related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental science.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in geological research techniques.
  • Familiarity with hazardous substance reduction and mitigation programs.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and compliance practices.
  • Experience in soil and groundwater sampling through various drilling methods.
  • Proficient in conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Experience with TRRP investigations and remediation reporting.
  • Skilled in installing groundwater monitoring and remediation wells.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong self-leadership abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior team members.
  • Proficient in technical writing and office software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data analysis.
  • Ability to direct field personnel to ensure task completion.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules.
  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree is advantageous.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a HAZWOPER physical and wear a respirator.
  • Successful completion of WSP's Motor Vehicle screening is required.
  • This position may be subject to client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policies.
