Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Geologist to join our team in the Austin, Texas office. This position will support the Environmental business line, primarily working on environmental investigation and remediation Department of Defense projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and solve technical problems in accordance with accepted practice and methodology.
  • Collect and analyze geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.
  • Prepare technical work plans and reports.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in natural systems.
  • Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and prepare samples for shipping.
  • Conduct geological logging and interpretation, and oversee subcontractors, including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
  • Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment.
  • Perform unsupervised field tasks and review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines.
  • Coordinate with task and project managers, working with and supervising on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
  • Travel to various job sites within the US.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related discipline.
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or other related discipline.
  • Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration.
  • Experience with developing conceptual site models and preparing remediation strategies.
  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable.
