Role Summary:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for developing effective procurement strategies and assisting senior management in the execution of sourcing initiatives. This role involves enhancing procurement and contracting processes by establishing and nurturing vendor relationships while managing the purchase order lifecycle to ensure uninterrupted supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the complete purchase order lifecycle in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Lead vendor selection processes, including researching and recommending potential suppliers to senior management, as well as advising on the discontinuation of vendor relationships when necessary.
  • Solicit quotes, conduct market research, and negotiate pricing and purchasing terms with suppliers, ensuring optimal procurement outcomes.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to address invoice discrepancies related to material purchases.
  • Manage inventory replenishment in accordance with established company guidelines and demand forecasts.
  • Work with the Legal department to draft vendor contracts for senior management approval.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Act as the primary contact for vendors to ensure quality standards are met and resolve any deficiencies.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and address any supply chain discrepancies effectively.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal project teams and suppliers, maintaining strong relationships.
  • Analyze market trends and demands to assist senior management in developing sourcing strategies.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support operational success and business continuity.
Qualifications:

Requirements:
  • Successful completion of background checks and pre-employment drug screenings.
  • Possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Availability for on-call duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. with 3 to 5 years of relevant supply chain experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred certifications include CPM or APICS.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business applications related to purchasing and resource planning.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to gather, analyze, and present data clearly.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic.
Advancement Opportunities:
  • Minimum of 12 months in position required for promotion consideration.
  • Certification in APICS or CPM.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supplier management, contract negotiation, logistics, or inventory management.
Physical and Work Environment:

The Procurement Specialist primarily works in an office environment, involving prolonged periods of sitting and using a computer.
