School Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Lubbock Independent School District. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Job Summary:The School Nurse will be responsible for providing medical care and support to students, as well as collaborating with teachers and staff to promote a healthy and safe learning environment. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care and a passion for working with children.
Responsibilities:- Provide medical care and support to students, including administering medications, conducting health screenings, and responding to medical emergencies.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote a healthy and safe learning environment, including developing and implementing health education programs.
- Conduct health assessments and provide guidance on health-related issues, such as nutrition, physical activity, and mental health.
- Develop and maintain individualized health plans for students with special health needs.
- Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure that students receive necessary medical care and support.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid Registered Nurse License to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Minimum of three years nursing experience in community health, hospital environment, physician's office, or school health.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/AED) Certification.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District.
- Pediatric/adolescent experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a four-year college or university preferred.
- Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks is essential. The School Nurse will also be required to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, clinics, and administrative offices.
Language Skills:The School Nurse must be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, as well as respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
Mathematical Skills:The School Nurse must be able to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts, such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Skills:The School Nurse must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems, deal with nonverbal symbolism, and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:The School Nurse must possess above-average proficiency in the use of a computer and possess above-average knowledge and ability to use and/or learn to use Database, Internet, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
