Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse - Med Surg, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to students and staff, assessing health needs, and developing individualized health plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess student health status and identify acute, chronic, and emergency needs
  • Develop and implement individualized health plans for students
  • Provide direct nursing care to students, including administering medications and performing health screenings
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure student health and well-being
  • Participate in health-related committees and activities to promote student health and wellness
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Valid Registered Nurse License to practice professional nursing in Texas
  • Minimum of three years nursing experience in community health, hospital environment, physician's office, or school health
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/AED) Certification
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatric/adolescent experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening
Working Environment:

The Registered Nurse - Med Surg will work in a fast-paced school setting, providing nursing care to students and staff. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

The Registered Nurse - Med Surg will be required to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the school day, and may be required to lift and move students as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, clinics, and offices.

The Registered Nurse - Med Surg will be required to use a computer and other technology to document student health information, communicate with parents and staff, and access health-related resources.

The Registered Nurse - Med Surg will be required to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, and will be expected to adhere to the District's policies and procedures related to student health and confidentiality.
