Structural Engineer

Moffatt & Nichol is a leading global infrastructure advisor specializing in the planning and design of facilities that shape and serve our coastlines, harbors, and rivers. We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team in Seattle or Federal Way, WA.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in waterfront design, including ports, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, breakwater and/or shore protection structures. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is required, with a Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for waterfront infrastructure development and rehabilitation work. They will also assist in resolving design problems, performing field investigations and inspections, and coordinating design aspects into a project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for waterfront infrastructure development and rehabilitation work
- Assist in resolving design problems, performing field investigations and inspections, and coordinating design aspects into a project
- Calculate construction quantity estimates
- Supervise and schedule work of other team members, including staff engineers and CAD designers
- Perform analysis, design, inspection of waterfront structures, asset management, submarine systems, and other maritime projects
- Structural analysis and design with timber, steel, concrete, and composite materials
- Develop plans, specifications, and calculations as needed
- Work closely with other disciplines, including architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projects
- Perform structural site inspections and prepare inspection reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
- 3 or more years of waterfront design experience related to ports, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, breakwater and/or shore protection structures
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required
- Professional Registration in Washington preferred, or the ability to gain registration within 1 year
- Prior experience of Department of Defense (DOD) projects preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD required
- Preferred experience using SAP2000, STAAD, and LPile
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Due to client requirements, selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening

Base Salary Range: $38.00/hour to $59.00/hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualifications in job description.
Physical Requirements: Majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required, which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
