Job Description

Accuity Delivery Systems is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Director to lead our QA team and ensure compliance with industry standards. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the QA Specialist team, including interviewing, selecting staff, training, and development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare administration, health information management, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the HIM field. A coding credential from AHIMA/AAPC is required, with CDIP or CCDS certification preferred. The candidate should also have experience in inpatient coding auditing, education, and training.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the QA team and provide direction on QA leadership functions, policies, practices, and resources.
  2. Coordinate work assignments and adjust as needed based on schedules, volumes, and access.
  3. Manage QA team quality, monitor productivity levels, and turn-around times.
  4. Assess current QA personnel productivity standards and develop a strategic plan to improve organizational effectiveness.
  5. Oversee QA staff employee files, timecard approvals, and track performance information to provide feedback and complete annual performance evaluations.
  6. Implement improvement measures to enhance overall quality and client satisfaction.
  7. Design and develop QA curriculum, programs, learning materials, and collateral based on industry design standards.
  8. Identify patterns, trends, and variations in coding and other types of data and take appropriate steps in collaboration with departments to affect resolution or explanation of the variance.
  9. Collaborate with team leadership to generate educational opportunities needed to support coding compliance, improve accuracy, and ensure variance in coding practices.
  10. Ensure information systems support current and future needs of the department by working closely with the Technology team in transition planning.
  11. Organize and analyze trend data to be presented as an educational opportunity and/or used to drive process and outcome improvement initiatives.
  12. Assign Learning Management System (LMS) modules for the QA team and coordinate technology matters with IT LMS administrators.
  13. Evaluate modes of training delivery to optimize training effectiveness and efficiency.
  14. Create ICQ goals and work with Human Resources and others to create development/training plans for the team.
  15. Analyze internal quality reviews, make recommendations for education, counseling, or termination, and direct provisions for staff development, training, and orientations.
  16. Ensure compliance with external agencies, including state and federal regulations for ethical coding and compliant queries.
  17. Direct the initiation, revision, and implementation of external regulations, statutes, and standards.
  18. Stay abreast of industry trends and developments to ensure that coding and auditing services remain competitive and relevant.
Requirements

Education: A Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or a related field is preferred, with an Associate's degree required. A coding credential from AHIMA/AAPC is required, with CDIP or CCDS certification preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the HIM field is required, with a minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience and 5 years of inpatient coding auditing experience. A strong background in education and training is also required.

Estimated Salary

We estimate the salary for this position to be in the range of $120,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
