Job Summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Family Medicine Mount Joy. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for visits, administering injections, and providing gross observations to providers. They will also be responsible for preparing and administering medications, performing Point of Care Testing, and removing sutures and changing dressings on wounds as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for visits by using appropriate rooming standards tools
  • Administer injections, as prescribed by providers and in accordance with practice protocols
  • Prepare and administer medications, as prescribed by providers and in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests
  • Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary
  • Provide clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols
  • Authorize prescription refills, as directed by providers
  • Assist in test tracking and monitoring overdue results
  • Assure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit
  • Participate in daily huddles with providers
  • Communicate with patients, visitors, and colleagues in a professional manner
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general equivalent (GED) is required
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR) is required
  • CPR Certification is required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support
  • Valid driver's license is required for Regional Positions
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) to two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office
Work Environment

This position requires occasional regional travel to support operational needs. The Certified Medical Assistant will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
