Position Overview:
The Aquatics Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the management of recreational activities within the Minnetonka Aquatics framework, ensuring adherence to the standards established by Minnetonka Public Schools and USA Swimming. This role involves program organization, efficient daily operations, staff development, and fostering growth among participants and team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute the recreational curriculum for students in the Minnetonka Aquatics program, tailoring lesson plans to accommodate various age groups and developmental stages. Regularly enhance curriculum based on observations and instructor feedback.
  2. Create and implement a comprehensive training program for instructors, including supervision and performance evaluations, while continuously refining educational materials based on program insights.
  3. Organize class schedules for each session, aligning instructor assignments with program requirements and participant needs. Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with the Director of Aquatics and other staff to optimize facility use and coordinate with additional programs.
  5. Plan and execute educational and promotional events, while maintaining partnerships that benefit the community and elevate the profile of Minnetonka Aquatics.
  6. Work with administrative staff to ensure the accuracy of program information on the website, including registration details and session schedules.
  7. Assist in the development of recreational policies and programs alongside the Director of Aquatics.
  8. Oversee the hiring and management of all staff involved in recreational programs, including instructors and lifeguards.
  9. Conduct evaluations with parents at mid and end of sessions.
  10. Support the Director of Aquatics in addressing lifeguarding requirements, including training and scheduling.
  11. Assist in determining equipment needs and managing procurement and maintenance.
  12. Collect employee time sheets and aid in payroll processes.
  13. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  2. A minimum of two years of experience in aquatics as an instructor, coach, or administrator.
  3. Current certifications in First Aid and CPR from the American Red Cross; Lifeguard Instructor Certification is preferred.
  4. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  5. Proven ability to engage positively with children and adults.
  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and responsibility.
  8. Knowledge of water safety and surveillance techniques.
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues and the public.
Position Details:
This is a full-time position with variable hours, including evenings and weekends. The salary range is competitive, with placement based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance.
