Position Overview:
The Pharmaceutical Support Specialist plays a vital role in managing the Indigent Drug Program (IDP). This position involves a variety of essential tasks, primarily focused on medication prior authorization and drug dispensary maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Prior Authorization (70-80%):
    Responsible for obtaining medication prior authorizations from various insurance providers and governmental agencies. This includes prioritizing urgent requests, researching formularies, and staying updated on authorization requirements.
  2. Drug Dispensary Management (10-20%):
    Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in maintaining drug dispensaries. Responsibilities include stock rotation, inventory management, and liaising with pharmaceutical representatives.
  3. IDP/PAP Administration (1-5%):
    Maintain the IDP/PAP database, process applications, and communicate with providers regarding IDP issues.
  4. Patient Interaction (1-5%):
    Contact patients as necessary to facilitate prior authorizations and process applications.

Technical and Ethical Standards:
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and government regulations, safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality.

General Duties:
Foster a collaborative environment among clients and staff, participate in organizational activities, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Bilingual in an Asian language preferred. Two years of experience in a medical setting is advantageous.
