Job Overview

Under the direct guidance of the Facilities Manager, the Landscape Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing essential grounds upkeep tasks. This includes activities such as trimming, watering, raking, moving, weeding, planting, and litter removal. The role involves operating trucks and powered landscaping equipment, as well as executing minor irrigation repairs and adjustments to timers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage irrigation of landscaped areas as required.
  • Replant and maintain landscaped sections as necessary.
  • Regularly collect and dispose of litter.
  • Utilize appropriate hand tools to trim weeds around pathways and flowerbeds.
  • Conduct hand-weeding tasks.
  • Install sod as needed based on facility requirements.
  • Prune trees and shrubs to maintain aesthetics.
  • Assist with minor construction activities, including excavation and transportation of materials.
  • Ensure regular trash collection according to a set schedule.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies responsibly, promoting safety and environmental best practices.
  • Contribute to team efforts and achieve related outcomes as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include maintenance of physical structures or equipment.
  • Execute minor repairs on irrigation systems and adjust timers as needed.

Compliance and Regulatory Duties:

In addition to the responsibilities outlined, each team member must adhere to compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Participate in mandatory training sessions provided by the company.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
  • Fulfill duties in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Ensure minors are not permitted in restricted areas.
  • Be knowledgeable about departmental ordinances, regulations, and policies.
  • Understand the property's programs addressing problem gaming.
  • Report any observed misconduct or violations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • One (1) year of prior work experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull weights up to 75 pounds.

Certificates and Licenses:

Virginia Racing Commission License and a valid Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position require the employee to perform essential functions effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include frequent sitting or standing, walking, using hands for handling tools, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and effective communication. The employee may also need to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
