Overview:
Perform repairs, modifications, maintenance, or overhauls on both customer-owned and dealership-owned motorcycles, adhering closely to the designated timeframes while ensuring top-notch quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Department Operations
- Refer to the attached Technician Skill Progression document for Competencies & Commitments.
- Deliver prompt, reliable, high-quality vehicle service to both internal and external clients.
- Complete repair tasks within the scheduled timeframe whenever feasible. Strive to enhance this efficiency skill continuously.
- Maintain productivity (time spent on billable tasks) as close to 100% as possible.
- Accept work assignments from the Service Writer / Manager.
- Request necessary parts for jobs as soon as needs are identified.
- Execute service, repair, and customization tasks according to factory specifications.
- Assist the Service Writer when needed with drafting work orders, communicating with clients, test riding, or any other tasks that promote customer satisfaction.
- Inform the Service Writer / Manager of any additional work required or delays in expected completion promptly, allowing for customer notification.
- After completing jobs, ensure accurate completion and filing of paperwork.
- Maintain a clean work environment and assist colleagues in keeping the shop tidy.
- Keep technical qualifications (PHD and others) up to date by completing any required training programs assigned by the Service Manager.
Customer Service
- Minimize return visits and address them promptly and satisfactorily when they occur.
- Ensure customers' vehicles are cleaner than when they were received.
Additional Responsibilities, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of a factory-authorized formal training program such as MMI Service School or equivalent experience.
- A valid Motorcycle license.
- Service Technicians must possess both basic and specialized tools to accurately diagnose and service our products. All Service Technicians are required to have a set of tools within 60 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
- The work environment typically has a loud noise level.
- Requires the use of both hands.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools, and lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Regularly requires the ability to balance and maneuver a motorcycle weighing over 600 lbs.
Working Environment:
- Often works near moving mechanical components.
- May be exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning agents, or other hazardous materials commonly found in a vehicle service environment.
- Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
