The Building Management Systems (BMS) Field Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the field operations of automation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate multiple automation installation projects effectively.

  • Examine contract documents and align them with RFIs and project communications to ascertain the scope of work that should be executed.
  • Oversee subcontractors by prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines, while authorizing and documenting additional work as necessary.
  • Develop strategies to ensure timely completion of tasks that enable subsequent trade work to proceed without delays.
  • Coordinate with other trades and the General Contractor regarding the installation requirements and functionality of system components.
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and other contractors.
  • Proactively manage short and unpredictable deadlines.
  • Conduct necessary check-out, commissioning, diagnostic, and maintenance procedures on building automation systems and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair panels of building automation systems, including communication devices and electronic controls.
  • Edit computer programs for building automation system points, ensuring accurate conversion patterns and alarm specifications.
  • Implement energy-saving measures by utilizing existing building automation system features.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including commissioning records, daily logs, as-built drawings, and status updates.
  • Plan and execute job responsibilities within set timeframes.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all project-related matters.
  • Assist in the evaluation and training of junior technicians.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of essential job skills and stay updated on industry advancements.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of field experience in the HVAC controls sector, including DDC systems commissioning and software integration.
  • Familiarity with Automated Logic commissioning tools and field circuit troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Understanding of the construction industry, particularly in mechanical and electrical domains.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, WebCTRL, AutoCAD, and various operating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time while ensuring customer satisfaction.
