Job Summary

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position in the Natural Sciences Department at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology courses and related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver instruction on topics of Human Anatomy & Physiology.
  • Compile, administer, evaluate, and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently.
  • Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
  • Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, and orientation activities.
  • Stay current with developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees, and provide outreach service to the community.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in biological sciences with at least nine graduate or undergraduate hours of coursework relevant to anatomy and physiology.
  • Master's degree with a major in biology or in a related biological sub-field and certified according to Human Anatomy and Physiology Society standards.
  • Professional degree in the medical sciences (M.S.N., M.D., D.O., D.C., D.V.M) and certified according to Human Anatomy and Physiology Society standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning.
  • Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods.
Working Conditions

The adjunct instructor will be responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus.
