Position Overview
The Lead Accounting Strategist is a highly qualified professional, tasked with overseeing intricate accounting operations for a rapidly expanding national organization. In addition to managing the accounting team, the Lead Accounting Strategist plays a crucial role in the formulation and upkeep of a robust system of internal controls and accounting frameworks aimed at minimizing risk, protecting assets, enhancing the precision of reported financial outcomes, and ensuring adherence to established accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Directs and supervises the daily functions of the Accounting Department, which includes:
- Facilitating month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Evaluating journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
- Developing and mentoring the Accounting and Corporate Accounts Receivable teams.
- Conducting monthly revenue assessments and accrual evaluations.
- Assisting in the organization of the Annual Audit of Financial Statements.
- Reviewing SG&A and Capital Expenditure variance analyses.
- Documenting processes and procedures to fortify and maintain internal controls.
- Proactively implementing enhancements and efficiencies on an ongoing basis.
- Delegating projects and guiding staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Overseeing cash cycles, billing, cash applications, and bank reconciliations.
- Monitoring and analyzing financial accounting data and generating AD HOC reports.
- Integrating accounting processes and billing cycles as part of M&A strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of accounting experience.
- 5 years of progressive management experience in a complex accounting environment.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP principles and standards.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (including Excel), accounting software, and databases.
- Ability to handle substantial amounts of data effectively.
- Expertise in best practices related to corporate accounting with a proven track record of success in high-accountability, fast-paced settings.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage a complex department within the company's mission, vision, and core values.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Ability to effectively coach, develop, and lead a successful team.
- Hands-on leadership style with a collaborative approach to achieving respected standards and objectives.
- Experience in Private Equity is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Workday Financial Management is desirable.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
