Core Responsibilities:
  • Support the government in the creation and refinement of analytic outputs by providing expert advice on grammar, punctuation, and stylistic elements, ensuring alignment with relevant style protocols. Review and edit numerous analytical documents daily, providing clear, actionable feedback to enhance clarity, content, and overall quality while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop and produce significant analytic outputs. Transform draft materials into well-articulated, polished documents that effectively convey key issues to senior policy and intelligence officials.
  • Engage with senior government officials at the executive level, facilitating productive dialogues among a diverse array of stakeholders with varying backgrounds and authority levels. Offer guidance and feedback on products to ensure alignment with strategic goals and senior leadership expectations.
  • Mentor and coach government personnel to enhance their technical writing capabilities, contributing to the impact, value, and clarity of analytic outputs. Provide training on best practices in writing, product composition, and adherence to writing standards.
  • Ensure all edited outputs conform to style guidelines, relevant standards, and production requirements. Maintain editorial consistency, formatting, and compliance with government standards across all deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • A BA/BS degree with 18 years of experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of experience, or no degree with 24 years of experience in technical editing, particularly within the intelligence sector.
  • Must possess a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Senior-level expertise in technical writing and editing, with a comprehensive understanding of intelligence analysis. Proficient in applying intelligence community writing standards and familiar with relevant document production processes.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to convert complex information into professional, polished products for senior audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders, fostering a constructive environment for feedback and product enhancement.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in the preparation and quality review of technical documents, and to mentor junior staff in developing their writing and editing skills.

Compensation Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
