Role ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Engineer will oversee the design process and manage professional service agreements with consultants providing design services. This role includes conducting formal evaluations of consultant-prepared design documents throughout all stages of building design.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting regular quality assurance site visits during construction phases and offering technical support as necessary.
- Managing project development during pre-design and design phases, including collaboration with clients and consultants.
- Overseeing all aspects of consultant contracts, including the review and approval of payment requests, amendments, and contract closure.
- Performing site inspections to ensure quality compliance in design and construction by various stakeholders.
- Monitoring construction activities, including the assessment and approval of change orders and conducting project inspections.
- Reviewing complex technical designs, plans, specifications, and commissioning reports.
- Providing technical guidance and recommendations to project management and client representatives.
- Coordinating with project management to address project-related issues.
- Conducting independent investigations into specific engineering problems and consulting with regulatory bodies as needed.
Assisting in the design, development, and testing of computerized systems and applications, as well as preparing internal design modifications and sealing documents as required. Contributing to policy development and implementing internal controls.
Regular attendance in accordance with company policies is essential.
Travel RequirementsThis position requires frequent travel (approximately three to six days per month), which may include overnight stays. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to various environmental conditions and construction site hazards.
Work EnvironmentThe official work setting is a standard office environment, with the use of office equipment and field tools for site observations and testing.
QualificationsMinimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, along with a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with five or more years of post-license experience in mechanical engineering, and licensure as a Professional Engineer in New York State.
Essential SkillsStrong knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems design and installation, as well as familiarity with applicable codes and standards. Experience in HVAC, commissioning, and building systems technology is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, independent judgment, and proficiency in standard PC applications.
