Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer - Code Compliance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, construction, and review of mechanical systems in compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform plan reviews of mechanical systems to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Manage the design process and administer professional services contracts for consultants providing design services.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor the quality of design and construction work performed by architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Review highly technical designs, plans, specifications, addenda, and change orders.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations to unit staff, project management staff, and clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum five years' relevant experience in mechanical engineering, including design, construction, and review of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including the Life Safety Code and New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a standard office environment, with occasional travel to construction sites. The position requires frequent travel, using public transportation, DASNY vehicle, rental vehicle, or personal vehicle.
