Requirements
  • Active unrestricted NM License

Responsibilities
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations of inmate-patients
  • Review results of lab and other diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe treatment and a follow-up plan for mental health problems
  • Document results of psychiatric examinations, diagnoses, and treatments in the individual inmate-patient's medical record
  • Participate in studies of major health problems affecting inmates and make recommendations to the Health Services Administrator
  • Obtain written informed consent from inmate-patients for psychotropic medications upon evaluation
  • Provide psychiatric information to the multi-disciplinary treatment team to assure continuity of prescribed treatment and programmatic function of the patient
  • Provide psychiatric treatment in compliance with all established standards and departmental procedures under the supervision of the Medical Director
