Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of dining staff, including union, student, and temporary employees, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction, quality, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of labor schedules, inventory management, and cash handling procedures.
  • Train and develop staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to state and federal food safety guidelines.
  • Oversee cash and inventory control, and ensure the security of facilities and assets.
  • Assist in marketing and merchandising efforts to promote our dining services.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and participate in department and university meetings and activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience in a food service environment, and an associate degree in Hospitality, Restaurant, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Google platforms, and experience with menu and inventory management systems.
  • Culinary knowledge and/or experience.
  • RI Food Safety Management License or ServSafe equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with POS systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated high standards of quality and sanitation.
  • Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work independently.
  • Ability to effectively work with a team.
  • Sensitivity to a diverse population.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend shifts. The successful candidate will be required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The ability to lift or move products up to 50 pounds is also required.
