Job Summary

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a highly qualified Earth Science Professor to join our team. As a tenure-track professor, you will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum in Earth Science, with a focus on Native and Environmental Science. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our students, while also advancing the mission of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach Earth Science courses that integrate Western and Native scientific perspectives
  • Design and implement laboratory exercises and field study opportunities for hands-on learning
  • Engage in public outreach and community education initiatives related to Earth Science, particularly with local indigenous communities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Earth Science curriculum, including courses in geography, geology, and oceanography
  • Collaborate with other departments to foster interdisciplinary learning and program development
Requirements
  • Master's degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology
  • Or, Bachelor's degree in geology and Master's degree in geography, physics, or geochemistry
  • Or, the equivalent, with completion of an Equivalency Determination Form
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in additional languages to support diverse student populations and community outreach efforts
  • Experience in developing courses that incorporate indigenous scientific perspectives and methodologies
  • Ability to design and implement hands-on learning experiences in Earth Science, using the college's resources and facilities
