Job Summary

We are seeking an Imaging Specialist I to join our Cellular Imaging Core team at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The successful candidate will support the scientific needs of researchers by assisting with basic tasks, operating sophisticated scientific instruments, and providing data analysis support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, including equipment maintenance and supply management.
  • Operate and maintain Cellular Imaging instruments, including acquiring images and executing image analysis pipelines.
  • Assist users of the facility with instrument operation and data analysis, providing training and support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and guidelines for investigator use.
  • Report results to users, perform basic billing requirements, and facilitate data transfer and archiving.
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with faculty, researchers, and external users to identify scientific needs.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience, or GED/High School Diploma and 3+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biophysics, or Engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new systems and techniques.
  • Previous experience using and a basic understanding of light microscopy, especially live-cell and widefield fluorescence microscopy.
  • Basic understanding of image processing software (e.g. ImageJ/FIJI).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative small-team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc).
