Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will develop and lead programs that will grow and sustain our organization. This role includes the development of a continuum of care across the spectrum of services at SSTAR, providing clinical direction/support, overseeing clinical functions, facilities, operational/fiscal performance of programs, and leading performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop business strategies and initiatives to help the organization grow, including proposals of new programming to meet the needs of the community served and generate a revenue stream to sustain programming.
  • Lead the implementation of major strategic, clinical, and/or operational initiatives.
  • Drive and expand on initiatives to improve access, volume, service mix, and bottom-line. Drive productivity levels for the clinical operations and optimize the use of various levels of staffing.
  • Mentor and develop leaders, foster achievement of goals and objectives, promote high-performing leadership practices, encourage collaboration, innovation, change management, and accountability.
  • Lead and manage change through operational discipline to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team with a focus on building and supporting relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors on business performance, opportunities, and potential risks in concert with the CEO.
  • Benchmark performance of business against the industry's best practices.
  • Develop short- and long-term goals/objectives and strategic plans across agency and approaches to accomplishing them.
  • Support the Quality, Compliance, and Risk Programs.
  • Take leadership responsibilities for preparation for survey readiness by conducting activities to ensure compliance with all licensing standards in concert with the Director of Quality and Compliance.
  • Serve as the Patient Grievance Officer; gather information related to patient complaints to ensure they are resolved and prepare written responses to patients. Trend complaints and provide meaningful insight for process or procedural improvements.
  • Work with the CFO on budget development and initiatives.
  • Represent SSTAR with external constituency groups, including community, government, and other organizations.
Requirements

This position requires a strong leader with experience in clinical operations, business development, and quality management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving growth, improving access, and optimizing operations. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience are required.
