Join The Arc of the United States as we seek a highly skilled and experienced Director of Conferences and Events to lead our national events team. As a key member of our operations department, you will be responsible for planning and executing high-quality events that educate and engage participants to advance the civil rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement event strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute national conferences, events, and meetings.
- Manage event budgets, vendor relationships, and logistics to ensure successful event execution.
- Provide high-level oversight and management of event requests for supports and services, including accessibility accommodations.
- Conduct site visits and recommend venues, negotiate contracts, and manage vendors.
- Lead and facilitate staff assigned to national events teams to produce high-quality events.
- Coordinate logistics for staff traveling to out-of-town events, including transportation, accommodations, and event support.
- Support team leaders for smaller events by coordinating event planning and logistics.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in event planning, production, and management, including multi-day events with over 1,000 attendees.
- Excellent budget and expense management skills.
- Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-departmentally and with staff of all levels.
- Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, 403(b) employer contribution, and paid time off.
