Job Opportunity: Director of Youth and Family Ministries

Lakeside Community Church, located in Alto, MI, is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Director of Youth and Family Ministries.

About Lakeside Community Church

We are an established and growing church with 310 members, boasting an average Sunday morning attendance of over 200 individuals. Our mission is to make and grow disciples of Jesus by the power of the gospel. We strive to create an inclusive environment where our community can find their next steps with Jesus.

About the Role

The successful candidate will report directly to the Lead Pastor and be responsible for planning and facilitating our Sunday night youth ministry program for teenagers. Collaboration with volunteer leaders will be essential in this role. The current youth group consists of approximately 40 students, comprising 20 high school and 20 middle school participants. High school students meet weekly during the school year, while middle school students attend bi-weekly sessions alongside the high schoolers until they break out into smaller groups.

Additionally, the Director will work closely with the pastor to lead fall and spring small groups. These groups meet regularly, typically after church services, for 8-12 weeks in both the fall and spring seasons. Our aim is to create an accessible experience for individuals at various levels of biblical knowledge. By integrating curriculum with teaching series, we have achieved significant success, with a substantial percentage of the church participating in these groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and facilitation of youth ministry programs
  • Collaboration with volunteer leaders and the Lead Pastor
  • Development and implementation of curriculum for small groups
  • Ongoing assessment and improvement of youth ministry initiatives

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 3+ Years of experience in youth ministry or a related field
  • A proven track record of impacting and changing lives for Jesus
  • Strong Biblical knowledge and ability to work within Lakeside's theological framework
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasion, and relational skills
  • Able to work effectively with and lead a team
  • Possess excellent skills in facilitating group discussion
  • Passion for the mission of the church and a strong love for Jesus
