Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for creating, supporting, and auditing our safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for our employees and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans to ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and craft personnel to promote a culture of safety and encourage buy-in of our safety program.
  • Exercise stop work authority to ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct daily hazard inspections and assist with implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and guidance to employees and subcontractors on policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30, 500, and 510 certifications.
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
