Job Overview

HealthPartners is seeking a dedicated Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor for a per diem role.

The ALS Instructor will take on the primary responsibility of teaching advanced level EMS courses, with the potential to lead sessions. This role involves both independent and collaborative instruction alongside other per diem educators. The instructor will cover a range of courses including lay-rescuer training, CPR, EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and select critical care courses. It is essential for the instructor to be capable of developing curriculum for both basic and advanced levels and to be prepared to teach at the basic level when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in required development and preparatory meetings.
  • Prepare and organize classroom and skills materials/equipment, including travel to off-site locations.
  • Evaluate instructional materials and actively contribute to their enhancement.
  • Assume a leadership role when appropriate and support program development and special initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching or mentoring experience prior to employment.
  • At least 2 years of full-time (or equivalent) verified paid experience in pre-hospital, emergency, or critical care environments.
Licensure/Registration/Certification:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record as per HealthPartners standards.
  • Current NREMT, Minnesota or Wisconsin paramedic license, or current Minnesota or Wisconsin nursing license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated core humanistic values such as compassion, empathy, and timely service delivery in all interactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to operate multimedia presentations effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Aptitude for building relationships with the public, medical direction customers, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to professionalism and excellence in interactions with HealthPartners employees, management, and the community.
  • Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Familiarity with pre-hospital medicine, MN EMSRB and WI DHS requirements, American Heart Association guidelines, and national registry standards.
