Job Summary

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) serves as a vital member of the Anesthesiology Care Team at Denver Health Medical Center, a nationally recognized level I trauma center. Under the supervision of a physician anesthesiologist, the CRNA administers general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the physician anesthesiologist, formulates and carries out an anesthesia care plan.
  • Monitors and records patient reaction to anesthesia and modifies the anesthetic plan accordingly.
  • Safely transports patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensures appropriate care during the postoperative period.
  • Performs or assists in conducting diagnostic laboratory and related studies as appropriate.
  • Establishes noninvasive and invasive routine monitoring modalities as delegated by the responsible Anesthesiologist.
  • Assists in the application and interpretation of advanced monitoring techniques.
  • Provides continuity of anesthetic care into and during the postoperative recovery period.
  • Assists in making post-anesthesia patient rounds and recording patient progress notes.
  • Trains Anesthesia Technicians in the calibration, trouble shooting and use of patient monitors.
  • Attends monthly department meetings and actively participates in decisions pertaining to efficiency of the department.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree or equivalent post baccalaureate training in Anesthesia.
  • Typically, two years related experience, new grads will be considered.
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state.
  • Board Certified Nurse Anesthetist License.
