Job Summary

As a Phlebotomy Specialist at Adventist Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services. Your primary responsibility will be to collect and process patient specimens for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. You will work closely with our medical team to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process patient specimens using aseptic technique and prepare required paperwork for testing.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members to facilitate the flow and quality of lab work.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment as needed, interfacing with clinical engineering and technical consultants when necessary.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, noting expiration dates, usage, and delivery times for stock and non-stock items.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement and quality assurance activities.
Requirements
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II or National Healthcareer Association phlebotomy certification (CPT-NHA) or National Center for Competency phlebotomy certification (CPT-NCCT): Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
