Mathematics Educator for Middle and Upper Grades

Full-Time, Faculty Role

The Michigan School Public Relations Association seeks an enthusiastic educator dedicated to fostering a love for mathematics among gifted students. Join a collaborative and innovative educational community that prioritizes student engagement and creativity.

As a mathematics educator, you will design and implement a curriculum that aligns with both state and national educational standards, while specifically catering to the needs of gifted and independent thinkers. A genuine passion for mathematics and teaching is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in managing diverse classrooms where each student's voice is valued and respected.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction across various math courses tailored for gifted middle and upper school students, focusing primarily on middle school mathematics and Algebra I, with the potential to teach advanced courses including Calculus and AP classes.
  • Employ a range of instructional strategies and assessment techniques, integrating technology effectively.
  • Collaborate with fellow mathematics faculty to develop and document curriculum.
  • Evaluate students individually, providing comprehensive narrative reports that emphasize holistic development.
  • Communicate student progress to parents through various means, including conferences and progress reports.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with colleagues, administration, and other educators.
  • Act as an advisor for a middle school homeroom.
  • Partner with faculty across Middle and Upper School on school-wide initiatives, supporting the educational mission through participation in meetings, committees, events, and field trips.

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field, along with three to five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
