We have an exciting opportunity to work as a per diem Mammography Technologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review the work of the staff, assist in the supervision of the technical and support staff, and facilitate patient flow through the Breast Imaging Center.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology.
  • Follow departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly.
  • Review patients' requisitions and understand the type of exam required by each requisition and confer with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary.
  • Demonstrate skill in equipment set-up, utilization, and proper maintenance procedure.
  • Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment.
  • Use imaging and peripheral equipment in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental, and manufacturers' procedures.
  • Observe and report any malfunctioning of the equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment.
  • Explain the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly.
  • Follow accepted radiologic procedures and use medical information to determine the type of protocol required for radiographic examination.
  • Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols.

Requirements:

  • New York State license to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Advanced Certification in Mammography.
  • College graduate.
  • Two years of experience in Mammographic and quality control procedures preferred.
