Position Overview:
The Beverage Service Specialist is responsible for receiving orders, crafting, and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with light meal options to patrons, ensuring a courteous and efficient service in accordance with the standards of Hilton Checkers Los Angeles. This role also involves maintaining the inventory and cleanliness of the service area and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of designated workspaces.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all menu offerings, including liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic options available in the service area.
- Strictly adhere to state liquor laws, particularly those regarding service to minors, intoxicated individuals, and driving under the influence.
- Manage the assigned cash bank and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions.
- Keep the cash bank secure at all times.
- Have thorough knowledge of the Point of Sale (P.O.S.) systems and manual processes.
- Welcome guests and take their orders (food and beverage), employing suggestive selling techniques.
- Input orders into the system and confirm transmission with the Bartender/Kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service areas, and the outlet itself.
- Present guest checks and process payments in accordance with cash handling and credit policies.
- Clean and reset tables promptly after guests leave.
- Document and report tips at the conclusion of each shift.
- Utilize all cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA regulations and hotel standards.
- Complete all necessary closing reports in the P.O.S. system.
- Accurately record maintenance requirements on work orders and submit them to management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience.
- Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience as a Server or Barback.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Familiarity with various drink recipes and beverage service standards.
- Certification in liquor, wine, and food service training.
- Completion of an alcohol awareness program certification.
- CPR certification.
- Ability to input and retrieve information using property management systems and point of sale systems.
- Prior training in guest/customer relations.
- We seek an enthusiastic individual who can engage in conversations with guests and possesses knowledge of the local area.
