Administrative Assistant for National Security Space Mission Area

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Administrative Support Specialist to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Program Area Administrator, you will provide administrative and operational support to our team, ensuring the smooth execution of our programs and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the Program Area Manager's calendar, coordinating meetings and events, and ensuring efficient use of time.
- Coordinate sponsor and partner visits, handling logistics and arrangements.
- Interface with government sponsors, APL management, and other external representatives, providing liaison support.
- Plan and prepare for program events, including recurring meetings, off-sites, and morale events.
- Track program updates and assist with meetings summarizing updates.
- Provide backup support to other Program administrators during absences.
- Prepare draft documentation and correspondence, ensuring editorial excellence and security procedures.
- 5+ years of administrative experience, with a strong background in program support.
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of external organizations.
- Strong motivation to meet organizational needs and proactively seek out opportunities for additional tasking.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and organizational data with a high degree of professional maturity and confidentiality.
- Skilled in MS Office, including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain an interim Top Secret-level security clearance by start date.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of administrative experience in DoD program support, including administrative support to Program and Program Area Managers.
- Experience in Space Exploration and/or APL policies, practices, and procedures.
