Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and professional Prep Cook to join our team. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting food for our dining customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Handle all types of food and food products to prepare and present for dining customers.
  • Following Daily Prep List: Follow daily prep list as assigned by the Chef on Duty, including washing, peeling, and chopping produce, preparing ingredients for cooking, and cleaning and cutting or grinding meat, fish, poultry, and shellfish.
  • Basic Cooking Tasks: Perform basic cooking tasks such as stirring, straining, and parboiling food and reducing sauces, measuring seasonings, condiments, and ingredients for use in cooking.
  • Utensil and Cutlery Use: Ability to use various utensils and cutlery appropriately.
  • Shift Work: Complete shift work (opening and closing checklists) thoroughly in accordance with department standards.
  • Position Prep List: Complete position prep list, other food preparation, per the direction of the Chef on Duty.
  • Menu Item Preparation: Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to department standards in a time-efficient manner.
  • Product Quality: Inform the Chef on Duty of any sub-par product prior to the start of service.
  • Temperature Control: Manage proper storing temperatures according to DOH regulations.
  • Sanitation and Rotation: Follow proper rotation procedures according to DOH regulations and maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; keep work area clean and organized.
  • DOH and OSHA Compliance: Inform the Chef on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Use: Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely.
  • Teamwork: Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible.
