Job Summary

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that support the educational and recreational needs of children residing in our shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement educational and recreational programs that meet the needs of children in our care.
  • Program Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of our recreation programs, including providing direct service to children as needed.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision and guidance to youth services workers, recreation workers, specialists, volunteers, and community organizations that provide services to children in our care.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on program attendance, school attendance, and other relevant metrics.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all programs and services meet the standards and regulations set by the Department of Human Services and other relevant authorities.
  • Community Engagement: Develop relationships with outside childcare providers and community organizations to ensure a smooth transition of services for families leaving our shelter.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to parents and caregivers on topics such as child safety, nutrition, and parenting skills.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in childhood education, early education, social sciences, applied health sciences, human services, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with disadvantaged children and developing childcare and recreational programs.
  • Certifications: Certified in CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety within 3 months of hire date. Willingness to become certified in food handling.
