Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our veterans.

About the Job
  • This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of Monday to Friday, 11:30pm-8:00am, with rotating weekends and holidays.
  • The salary for this role is estimated to be around $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • This position requires flexibility to meet patient and program needs, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  1. Provide physical care and assistance to patients, including transferring and transporting medically compromised individuals.
  2. Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and postmortem care procedures.
  3. Observe critically ill patients and report any changes in their condition to supervisors.
  4. Independently perform 12-lead EKGs and record vital signs, intakes, and output.
  5. Teach patients about cleanliness and sound health practices.
  6. Feed and assist patients during meals while observing aspiration precautions.
  7. Alert to special dietary needs and take action accordingly.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a background investigation.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • One year of general experience or completion of an intensive course of study in nursing or a related field.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
