Mechanical Facilities Engineer with Secret/TS SCI Clearance

About the Role

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Facilities Engineer to join our High Performance Facilities team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering sustainable solutions for government projects.

You will work closely with our team of architectural and engineering staff to produce project design packages, including drawings, specifications, and calculations. Your leadership skills and ability to work independently will be highly valued.

As a Mechanical Facilities Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from multi-building campuses to secure facilities across the globe. You will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform tasks and determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver HVAC and plumbing systems for government projects
  • Develop mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and system design descriptions
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures to perform tasks and determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments
  • Support new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budget estimates, and schedules
  • Perform engineering quality assurance checks of project designs

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program
  • Experience in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and associated engineering calculations
  • Experience sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment
  • Proficient in editing and writing mechanical construction and equipment specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience using HVAC computer load and design programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight (8)+ years of experience
  • LEED or Green Globes accreditation
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Adjudicated polygraph (CI or Full Scope) current within 5 years
