As a Patient Access Representative, you will serve as a vital first point of contact for our patients, embodying the highest standards of customer service and compassion, while adhering to our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Access Representative will facilitate all aspects of a patient's entry into any Mercy facility. Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling appointments
  • Registration processes
  • Benefit verification
  • Pre-certification
  • Financial clearance, including pre-visit collections

It is essential to ensure that accurate patient information is collected and entered into the patient record.

This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, as well as federal, state, and accreditation standards.


Qualifications:

Experience: 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans is advantageous.


Education:

Required: High School diploma
Preferred: Some college education is beneficial.


Skills:

Minimum requirements include:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Proficiency with various computer systems and a 10-key calculator

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates the ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly. It also requires prolonged standing and walking throughout each shift, along with the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as part of daily duties.
