Job Summary

Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient-centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Development: Provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week clinical and administrative leadership and development for the skilled nursing unit, including planning, organizing, staff development, performance management, quality fiscal and information management, regulatory compliance, and building and enhancing relationships through customer relations.
  • Department Direction: Direct and administer the operations/services of the department, establishing department direction and guidelines for accountability within prescribed policy and procedures of the organization.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure standards of care, policies, and procedures are appropriate and current, and that they have been reviewed with all staff members. Review and revise policies and procedures as necessary, but not less than every three years.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assure departmental action plans meet departmental and organizational goals, problem-solving effectively within the department and with other departments to achieve these goals. Assure regulatory compliance with Title XXII and TJC.
  • Professional Development: Regularly attend Nurse Executive Council and take personal responsibility for the quality and integrity of Nursing Administration. Regularly volunteer for and complete special projects. Maintain competence in nursing practice through participation in ongoing continuing education.
Requirements
  • Leadership and Management: Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in directing and administering the operations/services of a department.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ability to ensure compliance with Title XXII and TJC.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build and enhance relationships through customer relations.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with ability to effectively problem-solve within the department and with other departments.
