Program OverviewOur Fast Track to ICU Program is designed to equip new graduate and experienced nurses with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in our ICUs. You will spend your first year on one of our surgical floors, 8W (ENT Surgery) or 11N (Abdominal Transplant), and will subsequently be paired with the Transplant ICU. Our goal is to help you develop the expertise and confidence to care for the diverse and high-acuity patient population at UPMC Presbyterian.
About the UnitsOur surgical floors offer a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of patients, including those undergoing head and neck surgeries, abdominal transplants, and other complex procedures.
Our Transplant ICU is a 12-bed critical care facility, serving as the sole ICU in the hospital. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of patients, including those recovering from transplanted organs, surgical oncology patients, and patients suffering from multi-system organ failure.

Requirements- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
- UPMC approved national certification preferred
- ACLS required within 12 months of beginning employment
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance
